HDMI handshaking

Well I've often wondered what HDMI interfaces actually do in the seconds that it takes for them to make a new connection.   Here's a great discussion:

Here's a little Gefen EDID echoing device for solving problems like the one I had putting video from MiniDisplayPort onto my HDMI switch. (I just now bought one.)
